Biography


Born in 1997 in Knjaževac, Serbia, Sava started playing guitar at the age of 9 at a local music school „Predrag Milošević” in the class of prof. Dragan Ilić. During his primary education, Sava was awarded more than 20 prizes in state and international competitions, the most important of which were 1st prize at the „Festival of Music and Ballet schools“ of Serbia and 1st prize at „Vojvodina Guitar Festival“. He graduated from primary school as a „Best student in class 2011/2012“.

After finishing primary school, Sava started his secondary education in Music School „Josip Slavenski“ in Belgrade, in the class of prof. Miloš Janjić. During his first two years of high school, he won a total of 7 prizes in state and international competitions, the most important of which were 1st and 2nd prize at the „State competition of music schools“ in Serbia (2014, 2016) and 3rd prize at the international „Guitar Art Festival“ in Belgrade.

He had a chance to perform in chamber ensembles with flute, violin, guitar, voice, harpsichord as well as a soloist in Spain and Sweden. He gave concerts in most of the major halls in Serbia such as „Kolarac Hall“, „National Library of Serbia“, „ArtGet Gallery“, „Italian cultural institute“, „Museum of National Theatre“, „Novi Sad cultural centre“. In additon to this he also gave concerts in Australian, German and Canadian embassies in Belgrade. Sava graduated from high school in the class of prof. Ognjen Grčak.

During both secondary school and university studies, Sava was a regular holder of scholarships given by „Serbian Ministry of Culture and Education“ and „Ministry of Youth and Sports“, that aim to support young and successful students on their way to academic achievements. In the last two years of his bachelor studies and one year of master studies, he was a holder of scholarships given by fund for young talents „Dositeja“ that are awarded to 500 of the best students in Serbia. In the year 2019, Sava was included in Erasmus+ exchange programme that allowed him to study at „Conservatorio Superior de Música de Vigo” in Spain, in the class of prof. Margarita Escarpa.

Sava worked as a guitar teacher at Music School „Vatroslav Lisinski” in Belgrade, as well as in „Starčević guitar school” and „Team for childrens musical education”.

Sava is a holder of „Master in Music” diploma from Faculty of Music Arts in Belgrade, Serbia, where he graduated in class of prof. Srđan Tošić with a GPA of 9,70.

In May 2021, he won the „Lund University Global Scholarship” – a scholarship given by the prestige Lund University in Sweden, to only one student in every two years, which made it possible to pursue his second master degree in guitar performance at Academy of Music in Malmö. („Musikhögskolan i Malmö”). He studied in the class of prof. Göran Söllscher and prof. David Hansson, where he obtained his second master degree with the highest distinctions. During this period, he made close collaborations with several composers and played world premieres of pieces ,,Silverfallet” by Melina Ramberg and ,,Impromptu” by Elias von Proschek for solo guitar. In addition, he premiered the piece ,,¿Duo?” written for guitar and electronics by Swedish guitarist and composer Alvi Joensen.
Sava was awarded with grants from „Beslut Ebba och Birgit Janssons fond“ as well as ,,Inga och Georg Kopelius” foundation. He was a unanimous winner of the first prize („Jörgen Rörby” prize) at the “Guitar and Lute festival” in Ingesund, Sweden and in addition, he was a winner of the prestigious “KMA national scholarship” (“Kungl. Musikaliska Akademien”) in Stockholm, Sweden.

In addition, he was one of the finalist of the “Young talents competition” at the international “Uppsala guitar festival” in 2022.
